A growing crowd formed a short time later on the corner of Canal Walk and Washington Street. They were all staring at 23-year-old Tara Smith. Posed motionless on a landing, Smith’s skin was painted snow white. She also had a white wig, petticoat, bustier and layers of clothing on.

Three-year-old Jadyn Pearson approached Smith tentatively. After a dollar was placed in Smith’s vase, she blew a kiss at Jadyn and struck another pose.

Jadyn’s parents, Joe Pearson and Justine King, have brought her multiple times each WaterFire season. Smith is their favorite of the street performers and they also enjoy the music.

Said King, "It’s perfect, cheap family fun."
